Why it smudges:
Over time, rubber hardens and loses flexibility. Instead of lifting graphite, it spreads it.
Method 1: Fine sandpaper
- Sand the eraser with 400-600 grit until soft and white.
- Wipe off dust.
Method 2: Warm water
- Soak for 10 minutes in warm (not boiling) water.
- Pat dry with paper towel.
Result: Erases like new!
